Windows 7 launched a few weeks ago with so much promise. The operating system has been improved in a lot of areas to make it much easier for you to get the most out of your personal computer. The latest netbooks that have been released to the market take advantage of this new operating system as well. But here is the catch, expect few netbooks here and there, most Windows 7 netbooks come with the starter edition of the operating system. So you are getting a shell of Windows 7 on your netbook.
It’s true that Windows 7 is faster than Windows XP, but it could be resource heavy especially if you only have 1 GB of RAM on your netbook. Since most netbooks come with that much memory, you may want to take time to upgrade your netbook. But certainly not for Window 7 starter. Windows 7 starter is a great way to get your hands wet with the new operating system, but by no means it should be your main operating system. It is limited in so many ways and certainly not worth dealing with its restrictions when you can have Windows XP. But Microsoft does seem to be getting paid more for Windows 7 Starter:
With today’s netbooks, we sell you XP at a price. When we launch Windows 7, an OEM can put XP on the machine at one price, Windows 7 Starter Edition at a higher price, Windows 7 Home Edition at a higher price, and Windows 7 Professional at a higher price.
ASUS Eee PC 1008HA-PU1 Netbook is one of the netbooks that not only comes with 2 GB RAM but also Windows 7 Home edition. If you are shopping for a Windows 7 netbook, that’s what you want to hear. Or you can always rely on the good old Windows XP to get the job done. It’s actually a pretty capable Windows XP.
