ASUS Eee PC 1016P Now Shipping

ASUS is expected to hold off introducing new netbooks until the whole N550 processor issue is worked out, but the company does have plenty of models for netbook fans to take advantage of. ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1016P is one of those models that may be worth a serious look. It takes advantage of ATOM N455 processor and has Windows 7 professional (instead of Starter edition). The inclusion of 2 GB of RAM and a 320 GB hard drive means that this is an ASUS netbook on steroids.

While we are still talking about a netbook, ASUS Eee PC 1016P specifications are pretty impressive:

  • Intel Atom N455 (1.66GHz)
  • Windows 7 Professional OS
  • 2 GB DDR3 SODIMM memory
  • 320GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM) (more…)

Some ASUS 1005PR-PU17 Missing Broadcom HD?

ASUS 1005PR-PU17 netbook generated some buzz among netbook fans as it is the first ASUS netbook that takes advantage of Broadcom HD accelerator to provide better support for HD content. When you pick up a netbook, you would expect everything advertised in its specifications to be there. Unfortunately, a few ASUS 1005PR-PU17 buyers have received their netbook without boardcom technology on-board. While that’s hard to confirm as the unit that we used for our testing did have a broadcom chip, these issues happen from time to time with new products.

There is no question that ASUS 1005PR-PU17 without broadcom is still a solid netbook. It’s just not an upgrade over previous ASUS netbooks. The sad thing is not everyone actually takes time to check what is and is not included in their netbook. Experienced laptop owners know that companies make mistakes all the time. The sooner you catch those issues, the better off you are. (more…)

Asus Eee PC 1015PE – N470 CPU?

There are now officially too many ASUS netbooks around. The company behind these netbooks does not seem to stop anytime. While flooding the market with new netbook models does not necessarily translate to great sales, it does keep the company in the minds of the consumers. Asus Eee PC 1015PE is the latest creation of ASUSTeK that could be one of the first netbook on the market with N470 processor. N470 is a tad bit more speedy than N450 and can lead to better netbook performance on the go.

The device may feature a brand new CPU, but it is quite similar to other ASUS netbooks on the market (style aside):

  • Intel Atom N470 processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 160GB hard drive (more…)

Asus Eee PC 1201N: Large and ION Powered

ION netbooks are on the rise. There is no question at this point that we will see these netbooks make their debut sooner rather than later. Netbooks have been getting a lot of flak for not being able to handle those more complicated graphic tasks and for being somewhat slow with some operations. That’s about to change with the next generation netbooks.

Asus Eee PC 1201N netbook is one of those ION powered netbooks that are expected to take the market by storm. The device is not only powerful, but it comes with features not seen in other netbooks. This new netbook will have Nvidia Ion graphics (GeForce 9400M chipset), a speedy 1.6GHz Intel Atom N330 Dual Core, and high definiti0n audio. In essence, this new device addresses some of the weak areas that current netbooks on the market suffer from.

Eee 1201N is not only powerful but comes with a larger screen. The device has been improved so much that you could go ahead and call it a fully-fledged laptop. With the dual-core CPU and 3 GB of RAM, the device should be capable of handling those more complex tasks. I still wouldn’t install MAYA on it, but you should have an easier time watching videos and working on more sophisticated processes on your netbook. Who says the netbook market is dead?
