Samsung NB30: All Hype?

Samsung NB30 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life

Samsung has finally released its next generation netbook to the market with Samsung NB30. Samsung’s latest netbook takes advantage of Intel PineTrail technology to provide more speed and power to its owners. Samsung netbooks are very interesting as the company seems to put more focus on design and the looks than providing innovative features not offered by other netbooks. NB30 netbook is not different. It comes with standard features we have come to see in other N450 netbooks. But it has a scratch resistant finish and a free fall sensor that protects your data by moving the read/write heads away from your disk. So you can argue that this device is made for those who are looking for a tough netbook.

Here is a summary of what’s being offered with this netbook:

  • Screen Size: 10.1
  • Display Resolution: 1024 x 600 WSVGA
  • Processor: Intel Atom processor N450
  • Processor Speed: 1.66GHz
  • Hard Drive Size: 160GB, 5400RPM SATA (Free Fall Sensor)
  • Memory Size: 1GB DDR2
  • I/O Ports: 3-USB 2.0(1 is chargeable), VGA, RJ45, Headphone in, Mic-in,
3-in-1 Card Slot (SD, SDHC, MMC)
  • Graphics: Intel GMA 3150
  • Connectivity: 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, 10/100 BaseTX LAN
  • Battery: 6-Cell, 4400 mAh Lithium Ion
  • Weight: 2.73 lbs

It would have been nice if this device had more storage and more RAM. I am not a big fan of Windows 7 starter netbooks. But you can always upgrade your netbook easily. The good news is this devices gives you better data protection and looks decent as well.
