We have been hearing about the next generation ATOM N450 CPU for a while now. Any netbook that you pick up these days either has a N270/280 or a Z-class ATOM processor. But we have not seen those faster ATOM processors, and it doesn’t seem we are going to see them by the end of this year. But Lenovo and other manufacturers seem to be ready to introduce these next generation netbooks soon.

Lenovo IdeaPad FL5-B3 takes advantage of N450 “Pineview” that is more compact and more energy efficient. It will also make it much easier for manufacturers to come up with netbook models that are capable of handling more complex tasks.

Netbooks are going to get more energy efficient and more capable of handling more complex applications. It will take time, but with the next generation CPUs on the way, it’s just a matter of time.
