Intel: ATOM Devices To Cost $199-$299

Netbook fans are quite familiar with ATOM processors by now. Most netbooks on the market take advantage of those chips. Intel shouldn’t really be in the process of setting prices for tablet and netbook makers but it is doing just that. According to the company, companies should charge:

  • $199 to $299 for smartphones
  • $199 to $299 for netbooks
  • $399 to $499 for tablets

These prices are quite aggressive and should make Intel devices more competitive against ARM-based alternatives. Intel’s price assessment for netbooks is pretty interesting. Just a short while ago companies where charging close to $500 for netbooks. But even the most optimistic netbook makers know they can’t get away with that these days. How things have changed in a matter of couple of years.

I don't know if this will work for Intel but I guess it's a bit high since most of the product developers aim to have the same quality but less in prize in the same time. But let's see.
