The whole computer industry has become quite wacky with all the devices that are making their ways into various industries. We have smart-phones that can easily replace mobile laptops. We have netbooks that take advantage of 4G to provide more speed on the go. And then we have devices such as the iPad that can shift the PC paradigm and take the mobile computing business to a whole new level. Tablets seem to be on the rise these days. Apple iPad has generated a lot of buzz, which means there will be other companies that will try to compete with Apple in this market. You can certainly count HP in.
HP Slate is almost as portable as a phone and runs Windows 7 to give you power on the road. We still don’t know what the tablet will be using as far as its processor is concerned. Rumors are going around that it could be an ATOM processor (MooresTown instead of PineTrail). Will it be better than a netbook? It’s tough to say. It depends on how you want to use your netbook. There are many netbook owners who use their netbooks to watch video or consume content. In that case, these tablets can be nice alternatives to your netbook. But netbooks are still more convenient for business computing. Tablets are catching up though. So it’s no surprise that experts expect tablets and netbooks to go back and forth (of course you can always get a netbook tablet).
