Chrome Netbooks To Debut in 2010?

A lot of people have been excited about Android netbooks. There aren’t many of them around, but it’s certainly nice to have the option to dump Windows 7 and take advantage of Android. But Google Chrome is what is keeping people abuzz in the technology world. Google is fundamentally changing the way we go about running software on our computer. The Windows model is certainly old and outdated. Google Chrome OS will run applications hosted as services in the Internet “cloud,” which means manufacturers can offer cheaper netbooks without affecting the experience of the users. Cloud computing is the future, and Google Chrome OS will finally change the way we work with data on our computers. Here is a brief overview of the system by the good folks at Netbook News:

Google Chrome may not be as fancy as Windows 7 but it has a lot of promise. The team behind it certainly has big plans for it:

what Chrome OS is. Speed, simplicity and security. We want Google Chrome OS to be so blazingly fast… We think it should be like a TV, you turn it on and you are in the application… We are really focused on making a netbook that is lean and mean and runs the Internet really well.

Google is finally going after Microsoft where it hurts the most. There are a lot of folks who won’t need to use Microsoft products if they could take advantage of the selection of Google products that are available on the Internet. That doesn’t mean that Microsoft will have nowhere to go, but the business model that contributed to Microsoft’s success in the past is outdated. Google Chrome OS can certainly stop the speed madness by shifting the focus on the cloud and allowing netbook makers to lower their prices dramatically. Remember how people used to say “the internet is the future,” just a few years ago? The future is here now.
