AT&T Adds Tethering to iPhone Plans

Tethering has been long sought by iPhone owners. The company promised to enable the feature a while back, but it has taken it a while for AT&T to implement the feature. The wait seems to be finally over as AT&T plans to officially introduce tethering with iPhone OS 4. That will enable AT&T customers to use their smart-phones as modems for netbooks and laptops on the go.

AT&T has given its current data plans a make-over too. While the company has gotten rid of its unlimited plans, it has introduced DataPlus and DataPro plans to give customers more flexibility and make its plans easier to understand.

Tethering will cost iPhone owners an additional $20 each month. A DataPro plan is required. Sounds very exciting on the surface, for iPhone owners, but you are not going to be able to do much on a netbook before going over your limit in your plan. Most laptop owners are better off using a laptop data plan.
