
As if ASUS netbooks and innovative keyboard were not enough, ASUStek is planning to bring yet another challenger to iPad in form of ASUS Eee Pad. We heard about Eee Pad rumors a while ago, so it’s no surprise to see ASUStek getting ready to release their tablet. The company is planning to release two flavors of the device to the market. According to DigiTimes, one flavor of this device will run Google’s operating system and will take advantage of ARM architecture. The other version will take advantage of an Intel CPU and will run Windows 7.
Asustek CEO and president Jerry Shen recently revealed that the company will launch two versions of its Eee Pad, one with an ARM processor and Google operating system and the other with an Intel Atom and Windows 7.
While Asustek gets ready to release its tablets to the market, the company stands firm behind its netbook. It regards netbooks as the best choice for personal computing while considering tablets more suitable for cloud computing .
The tablet PC is a cloud computing device. If it weren’t for Apple this market would develop a lot more slowly,
said Jerry Shen, CEO of Asustek. So netbooks are not going away anytime soon. Of course, Apple is not going to be conservative with its tablet strategy, so it remains to be seen how netbooks will fare against the iPad in the long run.
