ASUS 1005PR-PU17 netbook generated some buzz among netbook fans as it is the first ASUS netbook that takes advantage of Broadcom HD accelerator to provide better support for HD content. When you pick up a netbook, you would expect everything advertised in its specifications to be there. Unfortunately, a few ASUS 1005PR-PU17 buyers have received their netbook without boardcom technology on-board. While that’s hard to confirm as the unit that we used for our testing did have a broadcom chip, these issues happen from time to time with new products.

There is no question that ASUS 1005PR-PU17 without broadcom is still a solid netbook. It’s just not an upgrade over previous ASUS netbooks. The sad thing is not everyone actually takes time to check what is and is not included in their netbook. Experienced laptop owners know that companies make mistakes all the time.
