5 Lightest Netbooks Around

Netbooks are in general lightweight. Most of them weight under 3 pounds, so most of them are super portable and compact, allowing you to take them with you on the road. But like any other gadget, people are interested to know what the lightest netbook around is. While I don’t believe focusing on weight is the best way to choose a netbook, but some people do like to go after those lightest netbooks. If that is you, here are 5 lightest netbooks money can buy:

Sony VAIO VGN-P530H/Q Lifestyle PC: one tiny netbook for the road. It’s very compact and weighs only 1.5 pounds.

Sylvania GNET13001 G-Netbook: not the most advanced netbook around, but the focus is always on portability and low-weight. It only weighs 1.87 lbs and comes with Linux.

Acer Aspire One AOA150-1447 Netbook: it’s your typical netbook with all those standard features, except it only weighs 2.1 lbs. The screen size is 8.9″ which is larger than the above two.

ASUS Eee Touch T91 Tablet Netbook: the best in the bunch. It’s a tablet/netbook hybrid that lets you get the best of two worlds in one device. Comes with the latest features and weighs only 2.11 lbs.

Sylvania GNET28001SO Meso 8.9" Netbook PC (1.6 GHz Intel Atom Processor, 1 GB RAM, 80 GB Hard Drive, Ubuntu OS) Yellow

Sylvania GNET28001SO Meso Netbook: another 8.9″ netbook that only weighs 2.2 lbs. What I love about this netbook is the fact that you get Ubuntu as your operating system, which is superior to Windows.

The above are the 5 lightest netbooks around. I don’t believe that weight should be the only deciding factor when going after a netbook, but if you have to have the lightest netbook around, the 5 above are interesting choices to consider.

  3. I was a bit wary of buy anything from a relatively no name company. And truth be told they are simply slapping their brand on a machine from over seas. But then again who isn't these days. I purchased the netbook, because I wanted something inexpensive, (around $350) with a decent harddrive (80gb on the meso), that was small and lightweight from carrying around, and good on battery usage. The meso met all those needs. Thanks for this post and more power to net book crunch dot com.
