Google Chrome OS is a very exciting platform and has a bright future ahead of it. But it is not for everyone. Chrome netbooks may be very capable but some folks prefer relying on Windows on these tiny devices. Thanks to Splashtop you can do just that but still have a fast way to surf the Internet on your netbooks.

Splashtop is light-weight and runs on virtually any laptop or netbook that has Windows installed. It gives users access to Chrome’s app store. What’s not to like?

Lenovo ThinkPad X120e Now Available

AMD Fusion processor has generated quite a lot of buzz and is considered a very nice alternative to Intel ATOM CPUs. The good news is you don’t have to wait too long to get your hands on netbooks and highly portable laptops that run these processors. Lenovo ThinkPad X120e, which is now available on Lenovo’s official website, takes advantage of AMD Fusion Processor E-240. Shoppers have the option to pick a faster E-350 if they choose to do so.

MSI Wind U160MX with Biometric Software Announced

A fan of MSI netbooks? The company has just announced a brand new netbook, MSI Wind U160MX. MSI Wind U160MX will have a Atom Processor N455 inside with 1 GB RAM, a 250 hard drive, and GMA 3150. NEC LifeTouch Note Android Netbook Video

Android netbooks did not take off as experts expected but they do offer something different for a market that is under pressure from multiple sources. NEC LifeTouch Note is a compact device with Tegra 2 inside. It does run Android Froyo (2.2). The device has a 7-inch (800 x 480) resistive touchscreen. A 2-megapixel Webcam is included on this device too.

MeeGo OS for Netbooks: Mixed Bags

Those of you who have been following the netbook market for quite some time know that most of the netbooks on the market ship with Microsoft Windows on board. Windows is a fine piece of software but is not the only operating system available on the market. Android netbooks have just not had as much success as many experts predicted. MeeGo is one of those that was expected to make a big splash in the netbook world. While the platform has a lot of potential, most experts have find it to be limited and not ready to stay competitive against Windows at this time (see a review courtesy of bobfrapples37):

Android-powered LifeTouch Note netbook Unveiled

There is life in Android netbooks after all. Android is one of the most exciting mobile platforms around. But here is the catch. Google intends to bring Android to as many devices and platforms possible. Android 3 will be more than capable of handling tablets. There is no reason netbooks can’t take advantage of this amazing platform. While we don’t expect LifeTouch Note netbook to start an Android revolution in this segment of the market, it is still encouraging seeing NEC trying something many other netbook makers are not.

LifeTouch Note netbook will offer:

Fujitsu Introduces MeeGo Netbook

Nokia may have partnered up with Microsoft to go after its top challengers in the mobile tech industry, but MeeGo is far from dead. We have been hearing rumors about MeeGo netbooks for quite some time. LifeBook MH330 is the first netbook to actually ship with the platform. The device, which has shown up in Singapore, is your regular netbook but with a whole new platform pre-installed on it. Here are LifeBook MH330′s most notable specifications:

ASUS Expects Lower Shipments

AsusTek is involved in a number of markets including tablets, netbooks, and laptops. While it has had success marketing these products around the globe, it seems it does not expect too much growth in the U.S. for now. It is no secret that the U.S. market has been affected by the recession. But tablets are doing their damage to ASUS’ netbooks. The company does expect the netbook market to stabilize and possibly grow but that could be just wishful thinking:

HP To Bring webOS to Netbooks?

Apple iPad has been dominating the tablet world. HP is not going to sit around and let Apple have all the fun. The company has announced that it will introduce HP TouchPad to the market soon.
