AsusTek is one of those companies that does not give up on any market or so it seems. The company may be a huge underdog in the tablet wars against Apple and Google tablets, but it’s hoping to grab some market-share of its own with the Eee Pad. More details about ASUS Eee pad came out at Computex. The device is expected to run a CULV processor, offers 10 hours of battery, and will run Windows 7. A webcam and USB port are expected to be included with this device.
We already knew from a while back that MeeGo for netbooks was in the works. The wait is now over as MeeGo 1.0 has been released. MeeGo is an open source platform based on Linux which should give Netbook owners options (although it’s tough to see how it can compete with Android).

Those of you who plan to download MeeGo have the option to choose Chrome as your default browser. Here are some of the features of this new exciting platform:
- Kernel based on 2.6.33
- DeviceKit and udev for interacting with hardware devices
- Modern 2D / 3D graphics stack including Kernel Mode Setting, non-root X
- Voice and data connectivity with Connman connection manager, Ofono telephony stack and BlueZ Bluetooth (more…)

Apple iPad was expected to take some market-share away from netbooks even before it was released to the market. According to a Morgan Stanley study, things are not looking too good for netbooks. The market has lost a lot of momentum and is not growing as well as it used to. The growth has gone down from 641% in July to only 5% in April. Not a very promising development for netbook manufacturers.
It’s easy to read too much into these studies. The netbook market is becoming more mature. It can not grow as fast as it has been in the past. Besides, a lot of these sales numbers are seasonal. The holiday season has been great for netbooks, and we may be going through a slow time for these devices. (more…)

Remember how many experts assumed that HP Slate was dead when HP killed its Windows 7 tablet just a while ago? HP was never going to give up on tablets. Not when they are so popular these days (with the market expected to continue its growth in the upcoming years). HP Slate is going to rise up from its ashes, this time with WebOS. The original HP Slate was slammed for being a keyboard-less netbook. The new HP Slate had better deliver the power and performance its fans have been expecting from the day one. (more…)

If you can’t beat them, join them. That’s exactly what ASUS has done by forming a partnership with Amazon to bring Amazon Kindle for PC software to ASUS netbooks. Netbook owners can install the software manually, but ASUS customers won’t have to as Kindle will be pre-installed on select new ASUS netbooks and laptops. Eee PC 1005PE and UL30 seem to be the first models to take advantage of this new partnership. Here he is the complete list of models that will have Kindle software pre-installed:

If you have been following the netbook market, you have probably noticed that we have not had large screen netbooks on the market so far. While there are a few 11.6-12.1 inch screen netbooks on the market, they do not take advantage of ATOM N processors. There is a reason for that. Intel has been trying to keep netbooks and notebooks from mixing with each other. The lines are blurry already, so limiting netbooks to a certain screen-size has somewhat worked as a differentiation strategy. The trouble is, not all netbook fans are into those small screen units. That could be one of the reasons behind Intel’s plan to lift panel size restrictions for dual core Atom netbooks. According to DigiTimes, that is not all:
Netbooks adopting the Atom N550 will feature 1GB of DDR3 memory, and a 32GB sold state drive (SSD) or 250GB hard drive.
A lot of laptop owners give Apple iPad grief for not having a physical keyboard. That’s a valid complaint if one intends to type a lot of words on an iPad. The virtual keyboard is decent for typing a fairly small amount of text. But if you intend to type thousands of words on your iPad, you are going to need a keyboard. Thanks to Clamcase, you can turn your iPad into a netbook and protect it against daily damages and accidents at the same time:
Clamcase is a plastic case that can keep your iPad safe against dust, dirt, and breakage. It has a bluetooth that connects with your iPad seamlessly, turning your iPad into a mini notebook of sorts. One can connect this keyboard to other devices as well (e.g. PS 3).

N470 netbooks are on their way. We have been waiting quite a while to get our hands on one of these devices. But those more speedy processors are going to be used in the next generation of netbooks that will be making their debut in the upcoming months. You can count Epson Endeavor Na03 among those netbooks. It is a 10.1 inch screen netbook (w/ 1024 * 600 resolution) that couples Atom N470 1.83GHz processor with Intel GMA 3150 graphics to provide netbook fans with more power and speed for the road. (more…)

Asus has just released more details on two of its upcoming netbooks. Asus Eee PC 1015P, 1015PE both take advantage of N450 ATOM processor and feature a 10.1-inch backlit-LED WSVGA display (1,024 x 600 resolution). The webcams included on this netbooks are not something you want to write home about (only 0.3 mp in resolution). These netbooks do come with Eee web storage and can last you as long as 13.5 hours per charge (depending on your battery and how you use these).
Here is a summary of what’s included in these netbooks:
ASUSteK is not only good at making netbooks, it has been behind some of the most interesting gadgets around. One can count Eee Keyboard PC among those gadgets. It’s a cool mini PC that can be used to deliver HD entertainment to your HD capable TV. Eee Keyboard PC is somewhere between a personal mini PC and a media hub. It comes with a useful 5 inch multi-touch screen to make it easy to control your digital entertainment center much easier.
Don’t let all the talk about digital entertainment fool you. You can use this device as a personal computer if you prefer. It takes advantage of ATOM N270 processor and 16 GB of shockproof hard-drive to handle your entertainment and computing needs.
