Everybody seems to be introducing their own apps these days. We have iPhone apps, Android apps, and even apps for e-readers such as Kindle. So is it really a surprise that Intel has been working to develop netbook-specific apps? We heard about netbook apps a while ago, and while there seems to be some promise as far as the concept is concerned, Intel hasn’t shown us too many apps yet. That could all change as Intel readies to unveil a few of its apps at Mobile World Congress.

Intel is planning to unveil 8 netbook apps at the event, and there is more to come. You can get a taste for some other apps on AppUp Center already. Among these apps, you can find a video editor, a DVD player, and a social networking app among other things. (more…)
Samsung has finally released its next generation netbook to the market with Samsung NB30. Samsung’s latest netbook takes advantage of Intel PineTrail technology to provide more speed and power to its owners. Samsung netbooks are very interesting as the company seems to put more focus on design and the looks than providing innovative features not offered by other netbooks. NB30 netbook is not different. It comes with standard features we have come to see in other N450 netbooks. But it has a scratch resistant finish and a free fall sensor that protects your data by moving the read/write heads away from your disk. So you can argue that this device is made for those who are looking for a tough netbook.
Here is a summary of what’s being offered with this netbook:

Sony has some of the best laptops on the market under its VAIO brand. Sony products are not cheap by any means. While they are not in the range of let’s say Apple, Sony laptops are a bit more expensive than their counterparts. Sony netbooks are not different either. In general, you will have to pay 10% – 20% premium over other netbooks to get your hands on a Sony netbook. The good news is the latest generation Sony netbooks may be worth the investment. The battery life is significantly longer on these new netbooks, and you get the latest features such as N450 CPU and Windows 7 on these new models.
Here is what’s included in Sony VAIO VPC-W211AX netbooks:

You can now consider Dell among netbook makers that have released their N450 netbooks to the market. We all knew that there would be many new netbook models in 2010 (most taking advantage of Intel’s latest CPU for netbooks in N450). So it hasn’t been surprising to see so many new netbooks released to the market. Dell Inspiron iM1012 is the very latest that is equipped with N450 processor. It does come with Windows 7 starter and 1 GB of RAM, so like most netbooks available on the market you will have to upgrade your RAM if you want to get a more powerful version of Windows 7 on your device. Move over Kindle. AsusTek is also getting in the business of e-book readers. The market has become quite busy with B&N and Plastic Logic introducing their e-book readers in the past few months. Of course, Amazon and Sony are still huge players in this market. The long shadow of Apple iPad is already looming over this market as well. But if there is one company that can challenge the big boys and provide a good bang for the buck to e-book fans with its products, it’s AsusTek. The company has some of the best netbooks on the market. (more…)

Another day, yet another netbook released to the market. This time we are talking about an ASUS netbook like no other. ASUS Eee PC Seashell Karim Rashid Collection 1008P-KR-PU is not only a powerful netbook, but it’s based on the vision of one of the best designers in the world. So you do get an awesome look and feel in this netbook. This model has it all. It has a speedy CPU in Atom N450. It comes with 2 GB of RAM and Windows Home Premium. Best of all, it weighs only 2.4 lbs. So it’s not only stylish but highly portable as well.
You also get a lot of storage with this device. You have 320 GB of hard drive available on-board. Add 500 GB of online storage that ASUS provides you with, and you have plenty of space to store your files. Its 92% full-size chiclet keyboard is convenient to type with as well. Add 6 hours of battery life to the mix, and you’ve got a solid netbook all around (comparison after the break).

ASUS has some of the best netbooks on the market, and that trend seems to be still going on with all the new models that the company has released to the market. We already have seen 1005PE and 1201N netbooks that are more energy efficient and powerful respectively. But ASUS is not stopping there. ASUS 1001P is a highly portable and energy efficient netbook that is designed for those who spend a lot of time on the road. The device is not as feature rich as 1005HE, but it’s certainly capable of holding its own against other netbooks on the market. (more…)

We heard about Alienware M11x Gaming Netbook a while ago. The device is certainly unique as there aren’t too many netbooks that can be used as a gaming laptop by gamers. They simply don’t have enough power to handle games with lots of 3D graphics. Alienware M11x is designed to change all that. Dell has just added the device to its front-page, which means you can start your own machine right away.
Dell doesn’t provide as many customization options with this netbook as it does with its other models. You do get a chance to choose between SU4100 or the dual-core SU7300 CPU for your netbook. You can also add up to 8 GB of RAM to this device. There are plenty of other small details that you can customize in this device.

As predicted, more next generation netbooks are making their way to the market. You can now consider Samsung among companies that have introduced a N450-based netbook. Samsung netbooks are known for their attractive design, and they often come equipped with the features you expect to see in a top netbook. Samsung N150 is not any different. The device does come with the new, faster N450 CPU. But it doesn’t stop there. You also get 3 USB 2.0 ports and 3 in 1 memory card reader to make it easy for you to connect your digital camera to your netbook on the go.
