Lenovo S10-3t 0651-37U 10.1-Inch Netbook (Black)

2010 has been dubbed as the year of tablets by many experts. Many companies, including Apple, are planning to release their own tablets to the market. Lenovo S10-3t 0651-37U is another one of those tablets, but it also gives you the portability of netbook on the go. We have already seen a few tablet/netbook hybrids in the past few months. These devices will never be as popular as regular netbooks, but they have their own fans.

ASUSTek was one of the first companies that introduced a hybrid tablet/netbook to the market a while back. The device was a solid choice, but it’s always nice to have options. Lenovo S10-3t 0651-37U Tablet Netbook should give us just that. The device comes with the latest ATOM processor and plenty of storage for the road. What makes this netbook exciting is the fact that you can flip the screen sideways and transform it into a fully-fledged tablet. And unlike the ASUS model, you get a 10.1 inch screen with this device.

While the device comes with some of the features we have seen on regular netbooks, it is designed to handle cloud and remote computing. The device doesn’t have a hard drive (not counting the 4GB Flash onboard).

Here is how the company behind this netbook hyped it up:

The Wyse X90cw is the new wave of compact, lightweight, high-performance internet devices that assures the end user experience is as good as, or better than, a comparable PC, but the security of a virtual client means that it’s now more dangerous to misplace a smartphone than it is a computer

Lenovo Strikes with Skylight Smartbook

Don’t you love how all these niche laptops have their own names. We have laptops, netbooks, smartbooks, and CULVs. Who knows what else is out there. Smartbooks have been considered by many analysts as the main threat to netbooks. Of course, as the lines between netbooks and laptops become blurry, the main threat will be coming from slim, energy efficient laptops that pack a power punch. Alienware M11X netbook: Gaming Netbook?

Credit: Dell

The words “netbook” and “gaming’ don’t usually go well together. If you are talking about playing old, simple games on your netbook, then you may be in business. But netbooks are not designed to handle those sophisticated 3D games. Alienware M11x plans to change all that. Alienware used to have some of the best gaming systems on the market, so its not surprising that Dell has decided to release its gaming netbook under that brand.

Alienware M11x netbook comes with an 11.6-inch display, NVIDIA GT335M, and will be ultra portable. So you can still go about using the device to handle your business needs in addition to playing 3D games on it. This netbook comes with an Intel dual core CPU to handle those resource-intensive graphics. The battery life is expected to be around 6 hours, but it could drop down to as low as 2 hours. That’s to expect if you are planning to play games on your netbook at 720p.

All in all, Alienware M11x is a nice niche netbook for gamers who need something ultra-portable. It won’t be cheap ($999), and it won’t go mainstream. But it’s nice to have more options when you are picking a gaming laptop.

Next Generation ASUS Netbooks Hit The Market

So much for us having to wait a few weeks to get our hands on N450 and other new netbooks in 2010. ASUS has just released two new brand new netbooks that come with the latest ATOM processors and improved features in many areas. For the first time, we are going to get a chance to try a dual core processor (ATOM N330) netbook in ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1201N-PU17. That should help with more demanding apps. ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005PE-PU17 may not have a dual core CPU, but it does have the fast ATOM N450 processor that many have been waiting for a while now.

ASUS 1201N takes advantage of a dual core processor to help you get more done on your netbook. It comes with a 12.1 inch screen as well. So it’s essentially a laptop in netbook clothes. You also get 2 Gigs of RAM and Windows Home Premium on you netbook. ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005PE is a more compact unit. It does come with ATOM N450 and can give you up to 14 hours of battery life on the go. That’s a record for ASUS.

N450 Netbooks Are On Their Way

2010 is set to start with a bang as far as netbook fans are concerned. 2009 was a fruitful year for netbook manufacturers. The market started to truly blossom and come to its own. Netbook sales did in fact help computer manufacturers to offset their losses in other markets and increase their earnings for the year. While the margins are much lower in the netbook market, the demand has been very high for netbooks. 2010 is going to be the year in which the line between netbooks and laptops become blurry. Till now, netbooks have been looked at super portable laptops that are not capable of handling complex computing tasks. That is about to change with Nvidia ION and new generation netbook processors.

You can count Toshiba and Acer as two other companies that are jumping on board with Intel Pinetrail CPUs. Toshiba NB305 not only comes with ATOM N450, but it also offers 11 hours of battery life which is more than enough to get some work done on the road without having to constantly look for your adapter.
